The Arenal Hostel Resort, counts with first floor romos as well as second as long as we have availability you can check with us to reserve your preference

We do not have rooms for smokers because we are coupled to the law # in costa rica

Our Hostel has two levels and we do not have an elevator

We have sidewalks and wheelchair accessibility in some areas of the hostel as well as rooms for disabled
Can you keep my luggage when I leave the room?
The hostel keeps your luggage safely, we have a room where you can store your belongings, in case of any object of high value is lost please report it to reception as soon as possible.
Where I can park my car in a safe place? Does it cost anything?
We have a parking lot that has a gate and it also counts with security cameras, it does not cost anything for our clients
Is there an Internet or e-mail terminal for guests?
There is a common area where you are available to use the internet
Do They offer high-speed internet in the room for my laptop? Is it Wireless?
Everywhere inside our Hostel offers high speed and wireless internet

In Costa Rica there are plenty of car rental services like, adobe, Alamo and mapache with offices all over the country
If I have several stays at a particular period of time, can leave a bag with some clothes for the next stay?
Yes sure! In our hostel we have a luggage storage where you can leave your belongings and come back for them while you’re out somewhere else
Is there pick up service at the airport?

We are located on the south side of the Catholic Church on the main street in the town of la fortuna
What recreational activities can i have access to in La Fortuna?
In La Fortuna San Carlos, you can count with plenty of activities, like hikes at the national park Arenal Volcano, The Waterfall, Cerro Chato, also Horseback riding and hanging bridges
You can also reserve at the reception more extreme activities like ATV, Rafting, Rappel, and canopy
Do they have any packages for lodging and tours?

Is there any night entertainment?
Inside our Hostel we have a bar that opens from 2pm to 10pm, delicious cocktail drinks and more, good music and relaxed environment, on Saturdays we have night activities with our guests with food service we do close a little later than 10pm depending on our clients
Outside the hostel in la fortuna town, there is also plenty of night activities like bars, restaurant and even a night club that is open on Saturdays

There are a few different ways to get to La Fortuna, one of them is on a public bus, depending on the location, and you can get buses every hour, and sometimes have to wait a little more. You also have an option easier and faster with a higher cost, which is the shuttle, as well as also for privacy, you can hire a private transport.
The private transfer service is an easy and safe way to travel to and from anywhere in Costa Rica. This service is very flexible, can be scheduled according to your needs and desires (day, hour, pick up place, drop off place).
All vehicles used for private transfer are very safe vehicles, they have air conditioned, comfortable seating and are driven by professional drivers who are well aware of the Costa Rican territory.
The private transfer service is very flexible in terms of locations and times, to reach to La Fortuna, we have some defaults pickup locations to our customers and take them to our Arenal Hostel Resort in La Fortuna, San Carlos; in the list below, and the places are shown, as the prices according to the number of people traveling..
As you can hire a shuttle to get to La Fortuna, also can hire one to go from La Fortuna to the different places in Costa Rica, on the day and time that you want, to book the service, you must reserve in advance (24 hours before) at the reception of Arenal Hostel Resort.
Shuttle service is a shared transportation option between two places. The companies we offer have routes to different destinations every day of the year. The fleet of vehicles used, are usually a minivan or a Coaster, depending of the people that are traveling. They are subject to availability and must be booked in advance.

One of the most economical ways to travel in Costa Rica, is in the public bus. Because of the transport system in our country, sometimes you have to make a transfer bus, and another occasions, just enough to take a direct bus to get where you want.
Heredia to San José
Departure every day, each 10 minutes from the Heredia Terminal, from 5:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and at night from 12:15 pm to 4:00 a.m., each 30 minutes.
Cartago to San Jose
Departure every day, each 10 minutes from Cartago Terminal, from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the ride takes 45 minutes, there is a distance of 22km.
Alajuela (airport) to San Jose
Departure every days, each 5 min, the bus stop it’s outside of the airport.
Limón – San Jose
If you are in the Caribbean, and you want to go to the Arenal Volcano in La Fortuna, San Carlos, the first you need to do, it’s to take a direct bus from Limon to San Jose, then make a bus transfer and take a new from San Jose to La Fortuna.
Buses from Limon to San Jose, leaves every day of the year, in hours from 4:30 am to 7:00 pm. From 4:30 am until 8:30 am, buses depart every half hour and from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm depart every hour.
There is a distance of 96 miles between the two places, and it takes like 2:30 hours.
The Limon bus terminal, it´s located in Limon Downtown, next to Palí Supermarket, and the ticket bus will cost $6.
Jacó – San Jose
To get from San Jose to Fortuna as in most cases, first you need to go to San Jose city, once in there, you have to make a transfer bus, and take one that is directed towards Fortuna.
The bus station in Jacó is located in Jacó Square Mall, there you have to buy a ticket which costs $4,5.
The bus schedule is at 05:00 am, 6:00 a.m., 7:00 a.m. 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and the last one at 5:00 pm.
The distance between the two places is 100 km and the bus takes about 2 hours to get to San José, and it arrives at the Coca Cola Market bus station.
San Jose – La Fortuna
Three direct buses depart daily from San Jose to La Fortuna, it takes 4hr of trip, leaving the Atlántico Norte bus terminal at 6:15 am, 8:40am and 11:30 am; two daily services make the return run (12:45 m.d. & 2:45 pm ) Alternatively take a bus from San Jose to San Carlos (hourly; 2 hr. 30 min), where there are frequent connections to La Fortuna (every 1 – 2hr; 1hr- 1hr 30 min ). There are also daily buses from San Ramon (4 daily; 2 hr. 30 min).
Nicaragua Border (Peñas Blancas) – La Fortuna
The best way to be transported from the border of Peñas Blancas toward La Fortuna, San Carlos, one time you has crossed the border between Nicaragua and Costa Rica, will take one of the buses that are parked on the other side of the border has already in Costa Rican land, the schedule of the units are 10:00 am 11:30 am and 1:30 pm with destination to San Jose, Costa Rica your first stop will be in Liberia City, Guanacaste, then in Ciudad Quesada where you will have to make trans-shipment for bus to La Fortuna de San Carlos, once you are in Ciudad Quesada, you can take a bus to La Fortuna, the buses departure every hour, starting at 5:00 am, and the last one is at 10:00 pm The approx. time of travelling is 5 hours.
Liberia – La Fortuna
There are approximately 95 miles of distance, starting in Liberia and passing by Cañas, Tilarán, Nuevo Arenal and finally arriving to La Fortuna.
The first place where you should go is to Cañas, for that must go before to the Liberia bus station, and take a bus, which run from 5:00 am to 11:30 pm every hour, then go to Transportes Villana Bus Terminal, in Cañas downtown and take a bus to Tilarán, the buses departure every days each hour from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Finally in Tilarán, go to the Bus
Station, and take a bus to La Fortuna, there are only 2 buses a day, one at 7:00 a.m., and the last one at 12:30 p.m.
There are many naturally occurring hot springs around the world, many affiliated with volcanic activity. In Costa Rica, there are hot springs of different temperatures, flow volumes and mineral content that can be found in the regions around the Arenal, Irazu, Miravalles and Rincon de la Vieja Volcanos, and others in the Orosi Valley or near Ciudad Quesada in San Carlos.
But the perfect combination of volume, temperature and mineral content (low sulfur content to prevent strong odors) that is present in Tabacon Grand Spa Thermal Resort is unique in Costa Rica and worldwide. Hot springs are considered a natural expression of Earth’s inherent energy. Geologically, Tabacon Resort’s thermal natural springs are 97% rain-based and 3% magma-based. Rainwater enters the earth through fissures on the surface and is then heated by magma found in the earth’s core. Once heated, the waters rise to surface, taking with them minerals found in the earth’s rocky stratus.
There are three thermal springs that naturally surface and flow in the property at 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). Total volume generated by the three springs is 80 liters per second (approximately 20 galons / second). In total, there are five different springs that exist throughout the property, with temperatures ranging from 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) to 50 degrees Celsius (122 degrees Fahrenheit). There are two main branches to the thermal river that flow through the gardens, and one cold river spring that flows down from the rainforest. Two more springs are captured for cold water consumption for guest use in the resort. Tabacon was the first Hot Springs resort open to the public in the Arenal Volcano Region, and is still the top rated, most acclaimed and publicized luxury Hot Springs and Spa resort in Costa Rica.
Many hot springs resorts in the Arenal Volcano Region and around the world drill for underground wells and depend on pumps and mechanical systems to fill their pools. The chemical effects are related to the minerals and other substances in the water, which are transferred to the skin and bloodstream through osmosis.

Hot water that comes from the underground layers of the Earth is called thermal water. A hot spring is created when the underground water is heated by the crust, by geothermal means. Temperature within the Earth increases with depth; it increases 3°C every 100 m (37.4°F every 328 ft) descended. Sometimes water is heated when comes into contact with hot rocks because of the normal increase of temperature of the crust; in other cases, when active volcano zones are present water may be heated when it comes into contact with molten rock or magma.

Volcan Look Discotheque. is located 4 Km West from downtown La Fortuna, Arenal. The club is one of the largest in Costa Rica. Great place to go dancing and to get a drink with some friends. The club opens only from Wednesday through Saturday, but you can expect some great DJs and live music on weekends, Latin style, Reggae style and electronic style.
